Upon entering the classroom, students will receive an entry assignment covering ruler & addition postulate, as well as pythagorean theorem & the distance formula; the questions will have students find line segment lengths. Once students have completed the entry assignment, we will go over each of the questions together. Next, we will begin Ch.1.3 Using Midpoint Formulas. Today’s objective is for students to understand identifying segment bisectors & finding partitioning segments on a number line. Students will receive an exit ticket assessment covering identifying segment bisectors & partitioning segments on a number line that will be due at the bell.

To begin class, students will be given a bonus points worksheet that will be worth up to 10 points added to the Ch.1.1-1.3 test that was taken Thursday; students will be given the first 15min of class time to complete the worksheet. Next, we will begin Ch.1.4 Perimeter & Area in a Coordinate Plane. Today’s objective is for students to know/apply the formulas for finding perimeter & area of a triangle, square, & rectangle. Students will receive an exit ticket assessment covering finding area & perimeter of squares, triangles & rectangles.

Once students have finished the entry assignment, we will go over the entry questions together. Next, we will begin Ch.1.3 Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides. Today’s objective is for students to understand how to solve equations with variable on both sides both by hand & using a graphing calculator. Students will receive an exit assessment in the last 10-15 minutes of class to check for understanding on the methods used for solving equations with variables on both sides.

Also, students will be set up on big ideas math using their chrome books. Next, we will have a short lesson covering absolute value & finding the area of triangle. Lastly, students will receive a short, 10-question homework assignment which will be due upon entering the classroom tomorrow (Tuesday). Today’s objective is to review previous knowledge of simplifying expressions of absolute value & finding the area of a triangle in preparation for Ch.1.1 Points, Lines, & Planes.

Following the online quiz, we will begin Ch.1.3 Using Midpoint Formulas. In the last 5-10 minutes of class students will receive a exit ticket assessment covering midpoints & segment bisectors. Today’s objective is for students to understand how to identify segment bisectors & midpoints, as well as applying those concepts to find segment lengths.

Next, we will use the conjecture developed about setting up simple equations & apply that knowledge to solving equations by adding or subtracting. In the final 5 to 10 minutes of class, students will receive an exit ticket assessment that will be due upon exiting the classroom; the exit ticket will consist of several problems in solving equations by adding or subtracting. Today’s objective is for students to understand how to solve simple equations by adding for subtracting.

After the lesson, students will receive a homework assignment covering all of Ch.1.1 Solving Simple Equations by addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division that will be due Friday of this week. Students will be given the remainder of the class period to work on this assignment of their chrome books. Today’s objective is to reinforce student’s understand of solving equations by addition & subtraction as well as check for understanding of solving equations by multiplication & division.
