Geometry 8/29-9/2

Monday

Upon entering the classroom, students will receive an entry assignment covering ruler & addition postulate, as well as pythagorean theorem & the distance formula; the questions will have students find line segment lengths. Once students have completed the entry assignment, we will go over each of the questions together. Next, we will begin Ch.1.3 Using Midpoint Formulas. Today’s objective is for students to understand identifying segment bisectors & finding partitioning segments on a number line. Students will receive an exit ticket assessment covering identifying segment bisectors & partitioning segments on a number line that will be due at the bell.

Tuesday

*HW Assignment Due: Ch.1.2 Measuring & Constructing Segments Pg.16-17 #3-6, 13-16, 19-22

Upon entering the classroom, students will receive an entry assignment covering identifying segment bisectors & partitioning segments on a number line. Once students have finished the entry assignment, we go over each of the questions together. Next, we will finish up Ch.1.3 Using Midpoint Formulas; today’s objective is to reinforce finding segment bisectors & partitioning segments on a number line, as well as understanding & applying the midpoint formula for finding the midpoint of lines. Students will receive a homework assignment covering Ch.1.3 Using Midpoint Formulas that will be due Thursday of this week.

*HW Assignment Issued: Ch1.3 Using Midpoint Formula Pg.24-25 #3-8, 21-24, 27, 28

TEKS: G.2.A, G.2.B

Wednesday

To begin class students will watch a short video that will cover using the midpoint formula. Next, students will receive a Ch.1.1-1.3 test review. The test review will cover Ch.1.1 Points, Lines & Planes, Ch.1.2 Measuring & Constructing Line Segments, & Ch.1.3 Using Midpoint Formulas.

Thursday

*HW Assignment Due: Ch.1.3 Using Midpoint Formula Pg.24-25 #3-8, 21-24, 27, 28

Students will be taking Ch.1.1-1.3 Test covering points, lines, planes, measuring & constructing line segments, & using midpoint formulas. Today’s objective is to assess the students knowledge of the material taught in Ch.1.1-1.3.

TEKS: G.2.A, G.2.B

Friday

To begin class, students will be given a bonus points worksheet that will be worth up to 10 points added to the Ch.1.1-1.3 test that was taken Thursday; students will be given the first 15min of class time to complete the worksheet. Next, we will begin Ch.1.4 Perimeter & Area in a Coordinate Plane. Today’s objective is for students to know/apply the formulas for finding perimeter & area of a triangle, square, & rectangle. Students will receive an exit ticket assessment covering finding area & perimeter of squares, triangles & rectangles.
