Geometry Lesson Plan 9/26-9/30

Monday:

Students will be taking the Ch.2.1-2.3 Test today. Today’s test will cover conditional statements, inductive/deductive reasoning, & postulates.

TEKS: g.4.a, g.4.b, g.4.c, preparing for g.6.a, g.6.b, g.6.d, g.6.e

Tuesday:

Upon entering the classroom, students will receive a hand out for their interactive notebook; the hand out will cover the addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, substitution, distributive, reflexive, symmetric & transitive properties. We will spend most of the class period going over each property, their meaning & function. Students will receive a HW Assignment covering each of the properties that will be due Thursday of this week. Today’s objective is for students to know & understand each of the algebraic properties of inequality.

*HW Assignment ISSUED: Ch.2.4 Pg.96 #7-12, 29-36

TEKS: preparing for g.6.a, g.6.b, g.6.d, g.6.e

Wednesday:

To begin class students will receive an entry assignment covering justifying steps on equations using proofs. Once finished, we will go over each of the questions together in class. Next, we will begin Ch.2.5 Proving Statements about Segments and Angles. Today’s objective is for students to be able to write a two-column proof based on properties of segment & angle congruence as well as the symmetric property of congruence. Students will receive a HW Assignment covering Ch.2.5 that will be due Friday of this week.

*HW Assignment ISSUED: Ch.2.5 Pg.103 #3-14

TEKS: preparing for g.6.a, g.6.b, g.6.d, g.6.e

Thursday:

HW Assignment DUE: Ch.2.4 Pg.96 #7-12, 29-36

Students will turn in Ch.2.4 HW Assignment upon entering the classroom. Once HW Assignment has been turned in, students will receive an entry assignment covering writing two-column proofs. Once students have finished the entry assignment, we will go over each of the questions together as a class. Next, we will begin Ch.2.6 Proving Geometric Relationships. Today’s objective is for students to understand the meanings & definitions of the right angle congruence theorem, congruent supplements theorem, congruent complements theorem, linear pair postulate, & vertical angles congruence theorem in preparation for the application of these postulates & theorems which we will apply tomorrow (Friday). Students will receive an exit ticket assessment covering all of these definitions that will be due at the end of class.

Friday:

*HW Assignment DUE: Ch.2.5 Pg.103 #3-14

Students will turn in Ch.2.5 HW Assignment upon entering the classroom.Once HW Assignment has been turned in, students will receive an entry assignment covering definitions of proofs & postulates in proving geometric relationships. Once students have completed the entry assignment, we will go over each of the questions together in class. Next, we will finish up Ch.2.6 Proving Geometric Relationships. Today’s objective to to take all the theorems & postulates learned from Thursday’s lesson & apply then to application type problems in terms of finding& describing angle measures. Students will receive a HW Assignment covering Ch.2.6 that will be due Tuesday of next week.
