Monday:
To begin class, students & I will go over all the classroom rules and expectations, as well as perform a walk-through over classroom routines & procedures. Also, students will be set up on big ideas math using their chrome books. Next, we will have a short lesson covering absolute value & finding the area of triangle. Lastly, students will receive a short, 10-question homework assignment which will be due upon entering the classroom tomorrow (Tuesday). Today’s objective is to review previous knowledge of simplifying expressions of absolute value & finding the area of a triangle in preparation for Ch.1.1 Points, Lines, & Planes.
* HW Assignment Issued: Ch.1 Mathematical Proficiency. Pg.1, #1-7, 10-12
TEKS: Preparing for G.2.A, G.2.B
Tuesday:
*HW Assignment Due: Ch.1 Mathematical Proficiency. Pg.1, #1-7, 10-12
Once students have handed in their homework from Monday BEFORE entering the classroom, there will be an entry assignment posted on the overhead for students to begin working on immediately; the entry assignment will have students use chrome books to research & define vocabulary words in preparation for Ch.1.1. Next, we will apply the vocabulary researched & apply the concepts to identifying points, lines & planes. In the final 5 to 10 minutes of class, students will receive a homework assignment covering Ch.1.1 Points, Lines, & Planes that will be Thursday of this week. Today’s objective is for students to understand the concepts of points, lines, & planes, as well as being able to identify the concepts on a graph.
*HW Assignment Issued: Ch.1.1 Points, Lines, & Planes. Pg.8-9, #3-7, 9, 14, 28, 29, 32, 35-38, 55
TEKS: Preparing for G.2.A, G.2.B
Wednesday:
Upon entering the classroom, students will receive an entry assignment posted on the overhead; the entry assignment will review the material covered Tuesday (points, lines, & planes). Once the entry assignment is completed, we will begin going over Ch.1.2 Measuring & Constructing Segments. After the lesson, students will watch a short video over the ruler & addition postulate. In the last 5-10 minutes of class, students will receive an exit ticket assessment that will cover applying the ruler & addition postulate to finding line segment lengths. Today’s objective is for students to understand & be able to apply the ruler & addition postulate to finding line segment lengths.
TEKS: G.2.B, G.5.B, Preparing for G.5.C
Thursday:
*HW Assignment Due: Ch.1.1 Points, Lines, & Planes. Pg.8-9, #3-7, 9, 14, 28, 29, 32, 35-38, 55
Students will turn in Ch.1.1 HW Assignment BEFORE entering the classroom; once students have entered the classroom, there will be an entry assignment posted on the overhead for students to be completed. The entry assignment will review the ruler & addition postulates. Next, we will finished up Ch.1.2 Measuring & Constructing Segments by learning the distance formula. Students will receive a homework assignment covering distance formula, addition postulate, & ruler postulate in Ch.1.2 Measuring & Comparing Segments that will be due Tuesday next week (08/30/2016). Today’s objective is for students to understand the benefits & how to use the distance formula, as well as checking for understanding of the ruler & addition postulate.
*HW Assignment Issued: Ch.1.2 Measuring & Constructing Segments. Pg.16-17, #3-6, 13-16, 19-22
TEKS: G.2.B, G.5.B, Preparing for G.5.C
Friday:
To begin class, students will be asked to have chrome books out & be logged into kahoot.it in for a quiz covering Ch.1.1 & 1.2, Points/Lines/Planes & Measuring/Constructing segments. Following the online quiz, we will begin Ch.1.3 Using Midpoint Formulas. In the last 5-10 minutes of class students will receive a exit ticket assessment covering midpoints & segment bisectors. Today’s objective is for students to understand how to identify segment bisectors & midpoints, as well as applying those concepts to find segment lengths.
