Algebra I Lesson Plan 01/30-02/03

Monday:

Students will receive an entry assignment covering converting radicals into rational exponents. Once finished, we will go over each of the questions together as a class. Next, we will review finding the nth root of a number, then proceed into a group work activity into finding the nth root of a number. Students will receive an online homework assignment at the conclusion of the group work activity that will be due Wednesday of this week. Today’s objective is for students to be able to find the nth root of a number using radicals & rational exponents.

TEKS: a.11.b

Tuesday:

Students will take a kahoot quiz to begin the class period covering radicals & rational exponents. Once finished, students will turn in their work page from the quiz as their “exit ticket” from the class period & will be given the remaining time in the class period to work on the Ch.6.2 HW Assignment that is due Wednesday of this week. Today’s objective is to assess each student’s knowledge of radicals & rational exponents.

Wednesday:

Students will have to turn in their Ch.6.2 HW Assignment before entering the classroom as their “entry ticket” into the class. Next, we will begin Ch.6.3 Exponential Functions. Today’s objective is for students to be understand the difference between a linear function & an exponential functions based on an equation, graph & table. Students will be put in groups to work together to evaluate the differences between linear & exponential functions. Students will turn in a work pages with the results of their findings as an “exit ticket” to leave the class.

Thursday:

Students will receive an entry assignment covering identifying linear & exponential functions. Once finished, we will go over each of the questions together as a class. Next, we continue with Ch.6.3 Exponential Functions. We have a short lesson on how to graph exponential functions in a coordinate plane, students will then be placed in a group work activity to graph exponential functions. Students will each be required to turn in their group work assignment as their “exit ticket” to leave class. Today’s objective is for students to be able to graph exponential functions in a coordinate plane.

Friday:

Upon entering the classroom students will be given a kahoot quiz covering exponential functions as well as properties of exponents, radicals & rational exponents. Once finished with the kahoot quiz, students we be required to turn in their work page as their “exit ticket” to leave the classroom. Students will also receive an online HW Assignment covering Ch.6.3 exponential functions that will be due Tuesday of next week.
