Algebra I 08/22/2016

Monday:

To begin class, students & I will go over all the classroom rules & expectations, as well as perform a walk-through over classroom routines & procedures. Also, students will be set up on big ideas math using their chrome books. Next, we will have a short lesson covering adding, subtracting, multiplying, & dividing integers. Today’s objective is to review & check for understanding of adding, subtracting, multiplying, & dividing integers. Lastly, students will receive a short, 10-question homework assignment which will be due upon entering the classroom tomorrow (Tuesday).

*HW Assignment Issued: Ch.1 Mathematical Proficiency, Pg.1, #1, 3-5, 8-10, 13, 14, 18

TEKS : A.5.A

Tuesday:

*HW Assignment Due: Ch.1 Mathematical Proficiency, Pg.1, #1, 3-5, 8-10, 13, 14, 18

Once students have handed in their homework from Monday BEFORE entering the classroom, there will be an entry assignment posted on the overhead for students to begin working on immediately; the entry assignment will cover developing a conjecture of setting up simple equations based on measuring interior angle measures. Next, we will use the conjecture developed about setting up simple equations & apply that knowledge to solving equations by adding or subtracting. In the final 5 to 10 minutes of class, students will receive an exit ticket assessment that will be due upon exiting the classroom; the exit ticket will consist of several problems in solving equations by adding or subtracting. Today’s objective is for students to understand how to solve simple equations by adding for subtracting.

TEKS: A.5.A

Wednesday:

Upon entering the classroom, students will receive an entry assignment posted on the overhead; the entry assignment will review the material covered Tuesday (solving equations by adding/subtracting). Once the entry assignment is completed, we will begin solving equations using multiplication & division. After the lesson, students will receive a homework assignment covering all of Ch.1.1 Solving Simple Equations by addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division that will be due Friday of this week. Students will be given the remainder of the class period to work on this assignment of their chrome books. Today’s objective is to reinforce student’s understand of solving equations by addition & subtraction as well as check for understanding of solving equations by multiplication & division.

*HW Assignment Issued: Ch.1.1 Solving Simple Equations, Pg.8, #5-8, 19-22, 27, 28

TEKS: A.5.A

Thursday:

Upon entering the classroom, students will be asked to have chrome books out & logged on to kahoot.it in preparation for a quiz covering Ch.1.1 solving simple equations by addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. Once Ch.1.1 quiz is completed, students will hand in their work & we will then begin Ch.1.2 Solving Multi-Step Equations. In the last 5-10 minutes of class, students will receive an exit ticket assessment covering solving two-step equations that will be due at the bell. Today’s objective is to check for understanding of students knowledge of Ch.1.1 Solving Simple Equations & to apply the knowledge learned from Ch.1.1 Solving Simple Equations to Ch.1.2 Solving Multi-Step Equations.

TEKS: A.5.A, A.10.D

Friday:

*HW Assignment Due: Ch.1.1 Solving Simple Equations, Pg.8, #5-8, 19-22, 27, 28

Students will hand in Ch.1.2 homework assignment BEFORE entering the classroom. Next, there will an entry assignment posted on the overhead for students to complete once seated; entry assignment will review Ch.1.2 Solving Two-Step Equations. Once finished, we will continue & finished up Ch.1.2 Solving Multi-Step Equations. Students will receive a homework assignment covering Ch.1.2 on Pg.16, #3-8, 11-13, 15, 17, 18, 20, 23-25, 28-32 that will be due Tuesday of next week. Today’s objective is for students to take the knowledge gained from solving two-step equations & apply it to solving multi-step equations.

*HW Assignment Issued: Ch.1.2 Solving Multi-Step Equations, Pg.16, #3-8, 11-13, 15, 17, 18, 20, 23-25, 28-32
