Geometry Lesson Plan 01/30-02/03

Monday:

Students will receive an entry assignment covering segment bisectors, perpendicular bisectors, & angle bisectors. Once finished, we will go over each of the questions together as a class. Next, we will begin Ch.6.1 Perpendicular & Angle Bisectors in triangles. We will have a short lesson covering the perpendicular bisector theorem & the converse of the perpendicular bisector theorem. Students will then begin a group work activity for the application of the perpendicular bisector & the converse of the perpendicular bisector theorem in triangles. Students will be required to turn in their work page from the group activity as their “exit ticket” from the classroom.

TEKS: g.2.b, g.5.c, g.6.a

Tuesday:

Students will receive an entry assignment covering the perpendicular bisector theorem & the converse of the perpendicular bisector theorem. Once finished, we will go over each of the questions together as a class. Next, we will continue with Ch.6.1 Perpendicular & Angle Bisectors in triangles. We will have a short lesson covering Angle Bisector & Converse of the Angle Bisector Theorem. Students will then begin a group work assignment covering the application of the Angle Bisector & the Converse of the Angle Bisector Theorem. Students will be required to turn in their work from the group activity as their “exit ticket” from the classroom. Students will also receive an online HW Assignment that will be due Thursday of this week at the beginning of the class as an “entry ticket” into the classroom.

TEKS: g.2.b, g.5.c, g.6.a

Wednesday:

Students will receive an entry assignment covering perpendicular & angle bisectors. Once finished, we will go over each of the questions together as a class. Next, we will begin Ch.6.2 Bisectors of Triangles. We will have a short lesson covering the circumcenter theorem & constructing a triangle using the circumcenter. Students will then break into groups to construct triangles with a straightedge & compass. Students will be required to turn in their constructed triangles as their “exit ticket” for the class period. Today’s objective is for students to be able to find the circumcenter & construct a triangle based on the circumcenter.

TEKS: g.5.c, g.6.d

Thursday:

Students will receive an entry assignment covering the circumcenter theorem, finding a circumcenter & constructing a triangle. Once finished, we will go over each of the questions together as a class. Next, we will continue with Ch.6.2 Bisectors of Triangles. We will have a short lesson covering the incenter theorem. Students will then begin their group work activity consisting of using the incenter to find side lengths within a triangle. Students will turn in their group work assignment as their “exit ticket” to leave the classroom. Student will also receive an online HW Assignment covering Ch.6.2 that will be due as their “entry ticket” into the classroom on Tuesday of next week. Today’s objective is for students to be able to apply the incenter theorem & solve for side lengths within a triangle.

TEKS: g.5.c, g.6.d

Friday:

Students will receive an entry assignment covering applying circumcenter & incenter to solve side lengths of a triangle. Once finished, we will go over each of the questions together as a class. Next, we will begin Ch.6.3 Medians & Altitudes of Triangles. We will have a short lesson consisting of the median of a triangle & centroids of triangles. Students will then begin their group work activity consisting of using medians and finding centroids of triangles. Students will turn in their group work activity for their “exit ticket” from the classroom. Today’s objective is for students to be able to use medians and find the centroids of the triangles.

TEKS: g.5.a, g.6.d
